It has been like Christmas and most of our new gifts from donors choose.org have arrived. The students have read many fairy tales to build background and started working on reader's theatre today. They are all so excited about putting on a show for you guys as well as the rest of the school. This is truly what applied learning is all about. The students are reading, writing, observing and sharing their observations as well as graphing, and collecting data all around the concept of Fairy Tales. The students are working together in small groups and have performed infront of their peers and I can't wait to share the videos with you. I am only the facilitator and get the joy of watching them show off their reading skills as they read their scripts. Some of the students took home their scripts so that they can practice over the week end. I will have some in class as well so those are for them to keep at home. Two of the groups did not have a chance to start rehearsing but I will get them started tomorrow.
Friday (4/12) we had a huge Lunch Bunch as last week's was cancelled due to some behavior issues and I would like to welcome Carolina, Andrea (75), Katie (75+). There will be 7 students in tomorrow's lunch bunch! I am so happy that the students share my joy and passion for reading. Our class have read almost all of the AR reader's from the school library so the PTA has generously ordered books for us and I have created another project on donors choose.org called Easy Reading = Ebooks and Books on Cd. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will find the support of more generous donors so that I can continue putting smiles on these sweet, passionate and hard working students. Have a fantastic week end. Sincerely, Maggi Stanley |
Campbell Soup LabelsCLIP and SAVE! Our school is participating in the Labels for Education Program which is similar to the Box tops program. Any help in spreading the word to parents/ community members in homerooms about our participation is greatly appreciated. We can earn supplies and equipment for our school! Laura Pendergraft Garden Jewels!Parents,
We are so excited in kindergarten about our garden! We have so much to do to make sure we have plants growing by the end of the school year. We will be growing some plants in a greenhouse, but some seeds will need to be planted directly into a garden. I would like to invite you to come and help create a space for our garden. DonorsChoose.orgMany teachers spend an average of $40 per month from their own salaries to create more dynamic learning environments for their students. DonorsChoose.org makes classroom ideas a reality by allowing teachers to post funding requests for certain projects. That could be books, technology supplies, ect. Check it out for more info!
